The European’s most glamorous yacht show is set begin on September 19 and will feature 500 of the world’s leading superyacht companies on display. In this four day event, yacht owners, top designers, main broker agencies and the best superyacht equipment suppliers will exhibit their most innovative products and luxury services to the world’s uber-wealthy. A total of 100 superyachts and megayachts, ranging from 82 to 295 feet in length will be on display, including 40 new builds unveiled in their world premiere.

Expected to be the star of this year’s show is the largest and latest luxury vessel launched by the renowned Proteksan Turquoise Yachts, the Vicky. This 239 foot yacht offers comfortable accommodation for 12 guests. There are 6 lovely cabins, including a full beam master suite located on the bridge deck, as well as 5 guest cabins which can be found on the main deck. A defining feature of the Vicky is the forward deck, circular helipad. Run by twin 2,447hp Caterpillar engines, the Vicky is able to reach a maximum speed of 17 knots, with a cruising speed of 15 knots.
Along with the most luxurious superyachts making their first appearance at the 22nd Annual Monaco Yacht Show, organizers will be presenting a completely new 2100 square foot reception complex in the heart of the yacht show area. The Upper Deck Lounge of the reception complex offers a top-flight menu in the elegant setting of its restaurant, where exhibitors and their guests can talk business over a meal or simply savor the moment. The official sponsor of the 2012 MYS, BMW, will also be presenting their new 7 Series Luxury Saloon, and the Swiss watchmaker Ulysse Nardin will be showcasing its finest collections of luxury watches.

For people considering private travel to the 2012 MYS, the Monaco Heliport located in the district of Fontvieille is the only aviation facility located in Monaco, but the Côte d’Azur Airport in Nice, France is only a 40 minute car ride and a 7 minute helicopter ride. If you are flying from the east coast of the United States, this kind of travel requires a heavy jet, and we suggest the comfort and performance of a Gulfstream G650 which can fit 11-18 passengers and will fly you to Monaco in 6 to 7 hours. From there, let the senior advisors at Private Flight Advisors coordinate your ground or helicopter transportation from the Signature or Landmark FBO’s located at the Côte d'Azur Airport.

Tickets are still available for professional visitors and for the public, and hotel reservations can still be made at Monaco’s finest resorts including the Hotel Metropole, Hotel De Paris and Hermitage, all located within walking distance of the 2012 Monaco Yacht Show. Whether you are just sightseeing, or are looking for a superyacht for sale, the Monaco Yacht Show is one of the most exciting events in the south of France this summer, and we look forward to helping you get there. BMW Opens FIrst i Store in London

Last week, BMW cut the ribbon of its new dealership, the first ever BMW i Store on Park Lane in London. The “i” brand, created three years ago by a BMW team called “Project i”, aims at exploring the future of transportation with a campaign focused around eco-friendly cars. Along with the opening of its very first i Store dealership, not coincidentally just two days before London kicked off its Summer Olympics, BMW also introduced its new line of i vehicles: the i3 city car and the i8 hybrid sports car.

The BMW i3 is a four-seater urban commuter car that has a range of 93 miles and 167 horsepower driving the rear wheels. A mixture of leather, premium wood, natural fibers and other renewable raw materials shape the face of the interior, and the absence of a center console creates an open and airy impression. Full-width seat benches in the front and rear allow passengers to swap easily from one side of the car to the other and climb out comfortably in tight city parking situations.

One of the most defining features of the cockpit is the freestanding steering column, which houses the most important controls, including the cluster, start/stop button and gear shift lever. The i3 relies on lithium-ion batteries, which can be charged in around six hours through a standard socket, though a quick charger can reduce that time to around an hour. Expected in 2013, the i3’s price is to be determined.

While the i3 is aimed at urban commuting, the BMW i8 sports car concept will compete with the Audi R8 eTron and the Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS E-Cell. This innovative plug-in hybrid will feature an all-wheel drive system with 349 total horsepower, including an electric motor fitted over its front axle producing 130 hp. With 0 to 60 mph capabilities in 4.8 seconds, a top speed of 155 mph, and fuel consumption at 104 mpg, the i8 will also be able to travel approximately 20 miles on electric power alone.

The BMW i8 is expected to be priced at around $100,000 and will be available in 2014. Take a look at the most recent BMW i8 concept, the Spyder:

Along with the i3 and the i8, the BMW i Store is also showing off its Pedelec electric bicycle, with a range of around 30 miles, and the BMW i Wallbox, specifically designed for charging all of BMW’s new electric products.

The i Store is part of a broader initiative to get the new ‘BMW i’ brand in the minds of consumers. BMW’s “Born Electric” tour is a series of worldwide events which kicked off in Rome this June, and will travel to Dusseldorf, Tokyo, New York, London, Paris and Shanghai through June, 2013. The tour will showcase the i3 and i8 as well as educate consumers on mobility services, new sustainable materials, the latest technological developments, lifestyle trends and what premium mobility of tomorrow is all about.
