Charter The FAA Certifed G650

On September 7th, 2012, Gulfstream Aerospace announced that its G650 has been FAA certified. Gulfstream began an internal project for the G650 program in 2005 and revealed it to the public in 2008, stating the new model will becomes Gulfstream’s largest, fastest and most expensive jet when it enters the market. The airplane flew for the first time in November 2009 and since has accumulated more than 3,889 hours over the course of 1,181 flights. Let’s take a look at the G650’s efficiency & speed, cabin environment, and safety enhancements separating the $65 million heavy jet from the competition, and setting the bar as the most efficient, luxurious, and safe business jet available today.

Efficiency & Speed

Powered by a pair of 16,100-pound-thrust Rolls-Royce BR725 engines, the G650 has a 7,000-nm range allowing it to link Dubai with New York and London with Buenos Aires. It has a long-range cruise speed of Mach .85 and also has a top speed of Mach 0.925 making it 2nd fastest business jet in the world to the Citation Ten (Mach .935). The aircraft has already set two city-pair speed records. It flew from Burbank, Calif., to Savannah in just 3 hours and 26 minutes and from Washington, D.C. to Geneva in 6 hours and 55 minutes.

Cabin Environment

The G650 has a cabin measuring 102 inches wide and 77 inches high, which is 3 inches taller and 14 inches wider than that of the G550, Gulfstream’s previous flagship. The G650 living environment provides for a longer living area, more seat recline, expanded leg room and comfortable accommodations for up to 18 people. With 12 different floor plan configurations, the G650 comes with a divan that berths into a double bed, a four person conference table, a 26-inch pop-up LCD monitor and 16 of the largest cabin windows in the industry. The Gulfstream Cabin Management System serves as the hub of the cabin, giving passengers digital control of the lighting, temperature, entertainment equipment, attendant call and high-definition audio and video components.

Safety Enhancements

The Gulfstream G650 comes standard with many safety features providing pilots with vastly greater levels of situational awareness than ever before. With input from customers, FAA aviators, and pilots, the engineers at Gulfstream’s Integrated Test Facility developed the most advanced flight deck in existence. The Enhanced-Vision System II is a state-of-the-art camera mounted in the aircraft's nose that projects a raster image on the heads-up display. The advantage of EVS is that it allows pilots to recognize the runway environment (lights, runway markings, etc.) earlier in preparation for takeoff and landing. The G650 is also Gulfstream’s first fly-by-wire (FBW) business jet which offers flight-envelope protection, increased redundancy and reduced maintenance. It has a separate and dedicated backup flight-control computer that provides an additional level of safety.

To date, Gulfstream Aerospace has received orders for more than 200 G650s and expects them to be available for charter by early 2013. Please contact Private Flight Advisors at www.PrivateFlightAdvisors.com or (877) 732 – 9963 to book your private jet charter today.
